Caught anything lately?
Could be you haven't lowered your net.
Putting the net out every day is what you're doing when you practice write - by journaling, free writing, or recording streams of consciousness. When long periods go by that you don't put out the net, your catch is pretty meager. Ideas swim right past you in their brightly colored schools. You don't know what you're missing.
Your daily writing isn't meant to bring you exotic fish. No, but it feeds you. It reminds you to put the net out. When you do this regularly, you're ready for the ideas that come along, much thicker and oftener than you'd imagine. They'll fill your boat.
