Wigging Out: Playing a Character

No, this isn't me wearing a wig. It's the fun of yearbooking yourself, creating a you of a different era. (Try it!)

In writing fiction, though, we really do dress up and play roles. We must place ourselves in different time periods and settings. I find myself going through the motions of what my characters are doing. I can be seen at the computer muttering to myself, shaking my head, raising eyelids, cocking a brow, scowling at an imaginary opponent, dropping my mouth in surprise. Whatever it is I want my characters to do, I have to feel it, imagine it, play it. Pretty much I'm wigging out.

Imagine two people in heated conversation! What are they arguing about? Write the scene. Describe their faces.
