Silence

Today's ordinary thing is silence. My dear readers, you may have noticed more silence here lately. In my search for balance, I can't always seem to find time for everything I'd like to do within my busy life. But I can make time for silence, and that's what I need most.

Silence means foregoing words. For the writer, it may mean walking away from the work and engaging in something wordless, such as gazing at the tangerine and yellow center of a pink rose, or listening to music, or breathing the air of a snowy mountain trail. These are all things I'm happy to say I've done lately. As for the words, they'll be there when I need them.

What does silence mean to you?
