The first quirky-named place that comes to mind is Weed, Oregon. Next, Humptulips Washington. Not to mention Puyallup (pronounced pew-allup), Washington. Naming a place can really bring out a town's creativity - or not.
When we were cabin hunting, I felt a zing of encouragement whenever I drove by Never Give Up Road. It kept me going for several years, until at last we found our vacation home. It might have been a different story if the road we had passed was named Hell for Certain.
