I love what Twyla Tharpe, renown choreographer and author of The Creative Habit, says about taking time out. Creative activities have an ebb and flow, which at times taps all our creative energy. Sometimes, to really dig into a project, you must let go of other things - just for a while. She lists several activities which are nonessential to most people and perfect for dropping short-term, such as computer use, television watching, and glamorous grooming. For me, when I'm sinking into a project, I'll drop:
So hello how are you? and sorry I dropped out on you this week, but know when I'm not posting that I'm happily writing.
What can you drop - temporarily - to take you to the next level in your creative project?
